Just wanted to update that all missionaries in our mission have been contacted and are safe and sound. The quake was obviously felt in our mission and there is some damage, but nothing like happened in ConcepciĆ³n. Our mission has been greatly blessed and work continues. It will be interesting to see in future days if food and gasoline supplies become an issue.
We are especially pleased that all of the missionaries in Chile´s nine missions are safe and accounted for. We have also contacted almost all of the families of our Chilean missionaries and confirmed that they are okay. We have still been unable to contact two of our returned missionaries that live in the area of ConcepciĆ³n, Elder Cuadra and Elder Cordero. I have heard from Elder Cuadra´s sister that the family is okay, but I´m anxious to talk to him and Elder Cordero. We worry about them like they were our own children, so we have some sense of how you missionary parents feel.
You may be interested to know that the temple and temple grounds held up well. The only notieceable damage was Moroni losing his trumpet. Susie commented that this means the missionaries have to work even harder to make up the difference.
We are grateful for your prayers and invite you to participate with our mission in praying for those missionaries in the Concepcion missions. They will have a real challenge. We will be praying too for the members and people in this region.

Thank you President and Sister Lovell for the updates on the earthquake and the status in the Osorno mission. Our son Robert is in the MTC preparing to come to the Osorno Mission next month. We are praying for all the Chilean people and the safety of the members and the missionaries. We already feel close to this country and its people even though our son has not yet arrived. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Thank you so much for your updates! So appreciated! And thank you for having the missionaries email. We knew from reading your blog that all was well with the missionaries there, but it was a great comfort.
Thanks for the updates. I served in the mission in '99-'01, and it's been hard to get news out of the south over the last few days. Good to hear that the saints are doing ok.
We appreciate the quick update on Saturday and keeping us posted. My son Elder Amezcua is up in Villarrica and has been in Chile for 3 weeks now. There are many people in Minnesota praying for the missionaries there and all of the Chileans!

We just learned of yet another earthquake near the last one. Our prayers are still with you all. We are in our Tornado storm season here in Missouri and it has begun with a blast but we, like you, take great comfort in the peace of the gospel.
